What is the weather like and what is the best season to visit?
Cape Weligama is a year round destination. The deep south of Sri Lanka experiences a micro climate which has less effect from the monsoon rains. The driest part of the year is between mid-December to March. The rainy monsoon season is traditionally from May to July. August and September are drier months, with rain returning in October and November. Rains are usually expected during the evening and don’t last very long, hence the sun is rarely out of sight for long. Temperatures range on average between 27 to 30 degrees Celsius. Ideal time for diving or snorkelling is in-between late November to early April.
What should we wear during meals?
There is no particular dress code and our guests prefer to dress smart casual during meal times, however beach wear is discouraged.

Do you provide Gluten free meals?
Yes, we can tailor make the menu based on our guests dietary preferences and restrictions. We ask all our guests to provide us with this information in order to ensure a flawless dining experience.
How many restaurants does the resort have?
There are three distinct dining options available at Cape Weligama. Ocean Terrace is the main restaurant offering a mix of local and international cuisine serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ocean Grill is our steakhouse restaurant which operates during evenings. Cape Club serves drinks, snacks and high-tea with an exclusive Dilmah tea collection. All three outlets have amazing views over the cliff edge of the Indian Ocean.
Do we require a reservation for Lunch or Dinner?
All meals included in your rate are served in the Ocean Terrace, therefore a dining reservation is not required. If you are visiting the region and would like to enjoy a meal at any of our dining outlets, a prior reservation is advised.
What is the recommended length of stay?
This iconic cliff top resort is situated in the epicentre of southern Sri Lanka with access to many places of interest such as Galle, Mirissa, Udawalawe and is renowned for whale watching activities. To fully experience the essence of Southern Sri Lanka, we recommend a 4 to 5 night stay to our discerning guests.
Does the resort suit honeymooners?
Cape Weligama Villas are the most sumptuous in the region and is located in stone ringed gardens with a large garden area surrounding each villa. The unique design of this iconic resort provides seclusion and serenity while services such as breakfast in bed, in-room spa treatments and dining by design at our cliff lookouts make it ideal for romantics and honeymooners alike.
Is there an adult’s only pool area?
Yes, moon pool is an adult only pool with a minimum age limit of 12 years to access the pool.
Are children welcome at Cape Weligama?
Children of any age are welcome to our resort. We have quite a few activities suitable for kids from Body boarding to cycling and we even offer scuba dive trial to kids at our dive pool. All Suites and Villas come with a Library of the latest movies to keep you and your family entertained.
Is there a pool area for children?
Yes, Cove Pool situated near the Junior and Master Suites have a separate kiddies pool and is open to children of all ages (under parental supervision).
Do you offer baby-sitting facilities?
Yes, baby-sitting services can be arranged for requests made at least 2 days prior to arrival. Please contact our reservations desk to make arrangements.
Are we provided with mosquito repellent?
Yes, we routinely place mosquito repellents in each room.
What kinds of transport arrangements are available from the airport / Colombo?
Most guests come by private car either as part of a bigger exploration around Sri Lanka or arranged by Cape Weligama. The journey time is 2.5 hours from Colombo or Colombo Airport. Do you have accommodation for drivers?
We have secured accommodation for drivers in the area, less than 1 km away from the resort. We provide this service complimentary, however meals would be charged separately based on consumption.
Do activities need to be booked prior to our stay? What are the recommended activities?
Activities and excursions can indeed be booked during your stay with us however this would then be subject to availability. We would recommend confirming your activities prior to your stay with us in order to avoid any disappointment. Do you have direct beach access?
Cape Weligama is an iconic cliff top beach resort and does not provide direct access to the beach from our Suites and Villas. However we do have two separate access points available to both the East and West beaches. They are about 5 to 15 minutes away. The beaches although public are not crowded.
Can we pay on arrival?
Our room inventory is very small; therefore to guarantee a reservation we ask that you pay 30% at time of booking and the balance 30 days prior to arrival. During the Peak period a non-refundable deposit of 30% is required with the balance payable 60 days prior to your arrival.
