Can children under 3 join game drives at Wild Coast Tented Lodge Yala?

Modified on Fri, 9 Aug at 10:01 AM

After consulting with our ranger team at Wild Coast Tented Lodge Yala regarding children under 3 participating in game drives, several considerations come into play. Safety and comfort are paramount, as young children may face challenges such as dust, bumpy roads, and the need to sit on a parent’s lap due to seat-belted seats. Additionally, their experience during potential wildlife encounters, such as an elephant charging the vehicle, could be unsettling.

While young children cannot join game drives, we offer opportunities to explore and learn about wildlife around the lodge, including monkeys, wild boar, birdlife, and smaller animals. For families who wish to include toddlers in game drives, arranging an exclusive vehicle for their group is an option. This provides personalized attention and additional safety measures, with the requirement to sign an indemnity form at the lodge.

We recommend that families first undertake a game drive without their youngest child to assess comfort with the safari dynamics. Please note that children aged 1 year and below are strictly prohibited from joining game drives due to safety concerns. We prioritize the safety and enjoyment of all our guests, including young children, and appreciate your understanding of these considerations.
